LHP Sean Gilmartin has been designated for assignment to clear room for RHP Seth Lugo, who is starting for the Mets on Sunday.
Lugo will be making his 2017 debut after recovering from a partial tear of his ulnar collateral ligament. He pitched in 17 games for the Mets last season, going 5-2 with a 2.67 ERA.
Meanwhile, Gilmartin appeared in just two games for the Mets this season, allowing five runs on eight hits in 3 and 1/3 innings of work.
