The New York Mets have placed right-hander Jacob deGrom on the family medical emergency list because of health complications involving his newborn child.
DeGrom left the team this week for the birth of his first child in Florida. Manager Terry Collins said before Saturday's game against Cleveland that complications developed and deGrom needed to stay with his family.
Collins said the team's thoughts are with deGrom, his wife, Stacey, and son, Jaxon, who was born on Monday. Collins added he's spoken with the pitcher every day.
"He's where you'd expect him to be," Collins said.
