The Royals didn’t appreciate Noah Syndergaard buzzing Alcides Escobar’s head and knocking him down with the first pitch of Game 3 in the World Series on Friday night.
And because the Mets’ right-hander said Thursday he had some tricks up his sleeve for the sizzling Royals leadoff hitter, who has attacked the first pitch he sees starting a game at an alarming rate, many in the Kansas City clubhouse believed it was premeditated.
“The first pitch of the game, to throw at my head is not good,’’ Escobar said after the Mets hung a 9-3 loss on the Royals at Citi Field that cut the visitors’ Series lead to 2-1.
