NEW YORK (WFAN) — The Mets turned Sunday night’s showdown against the Yankees into a “March exhibition game” when they pulled pitcher Matt Harvey after five masterful innings, WFAN host Francesa said Monday.
Harvey left the game with a 1-0 lead, having allowed just one hit. The Mets’ bullpen then squandered the final game of the Subway Series in embarrassing fashion, as six relievers contributed to the 11-2 collapse.
Harvey’s workload has been a hot-button issue within the organization in recent weeks, as the “Dark Knight” approaches his doctor-recommended 180-inning limit following undergoing Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in October 2013.
