Earlier in August, authorities arrested former New York Mets second baseman Luis Castillo on drug trafficking charges. Castillo and former MLB pitcher Octavio Dotel (who played 19 games for New York in 1999) were accused of being connected to a large Dominican Republic drug investigation.
It was alleged that both former ballplayers used to launder the money of accused drug trafficker César Peralta. However, this week, authorities cleared both Castillo and Dotel of any wrongdoing within the situation.
Per Craig Calcaterra of NBC Sports, Judge José Alejandro Vargas released both of them due to a lack of evidence.
