Former Mets prospect sends Matt Harvey down to defeat versus Braves

NEW YORK -- John Gant wasn't a high draft pick, and he wasn't a big prospect. When the New York Mets sent him to the Atlanta Braves last July, along with fellow minor leaguer Robert Whalen, it didn't seem like a big price to pay to get Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe.

The Mets paid the price Friday night. Gant showed up at Citi Field with the Braves, and in his second major league start, he allowed just two hits in 6 2/3 innings for a 5-1 win over the Mets and Matt Harvey.
