Former Mets pitcher Jeremy Hefner, who made 36 starts with the team in 2012 and 2013 before requiring two Tommy John surgeries, has signed a minor league contract with the St. Louis Cardinals. In his time with the Mets, Hefner had a 4.65 ERA and 4.14 FIP.
The 29-year-old experienced a series of setbacks over the past few years. He had his first Tommy John surgery in August 2013. He was aiming to return to the Mets by late 2014, but a second surgery after only six minor league rehab starts put him back on the shelf.
