Ed Kranepool, an original Met and member of the 1969 “Miracle Mets,” is currently fighting through major health issues, according to a report from the New York Daily News.
The former first baseman, who spent his entire 18-year career in the orange and blue, has been struggling with diabetes for 38 years, and last summer got an infection that led to a hospital visit. Unfortunately, the infection was a result of kidney failure and Kranepool had to have his left big toe amputated earlier this week.
Kranepool is currently on a Stony Brook University hospital waiting list for a kidney donor, according to the report.
