Mets infielder Wilmer Flores will begin practicing in the outfield in an effort to add to his versatility and find ways to be in the lineup.
"It's not like I'm going to be out there a lot," Flores said, according to Newsday's David Lennon. "Just as an option. I don't want to sit on the bench. I want to play."
Though he has spent most of his five-year career playing on the left side of the infield with some time at second base, Flores practiced at first base and has played there in 56 games over the past two seasons.
