Twenty-three games into this experiment and the honeymoon is definitely over for Wilmer Flores. Fresh off committing his sixth error of the season in the top of the inning, the Mets embattled starting shortstop walked to the plate in the bottom of the fourth and the small crowd at Citi Field booed him loudly.
Flores had bobbled a routine ground ball leading to the Nationals go-ahead runs scoring and basically the Mets unraveling in a 8-2 loss at Citi Field Thursday night.
The loss was the first at home for the Mets (15-8) this season and snapped a streak of 12 straight wins at Citi Field, dating back to September.
