Flores and Colon Lead Mets Over the Phillies

NEW YORK — Wilmer Flores hit a tiebreaking three-run homer off Justin De Fratus in the sixth inning to help Mets starter Bartolo Colon win a day after his 42nd birthday, and the Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 6-3, Monday to stop a three-game losing streak.

With the score tied at 3, Daniel Murphy led off the sixth with a single off Elvis Araujo (1-1), De Fratus walked Michael Cuddyer and Flores then homered.

Colon (7-4) allowed three runs and six hits in six innings, benefiting from the seemingly wide strike zone of the plate umpire, Larry Vanover.
