NEW YORK -- Right-hander Chris Flexen was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas prior to Sunday's game to make his first Major League start of 2018 against the Rays. The corresponding roster move was to option rookie righty Drew Smith to create room on the 25-man roster.
Flexen is 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA in three games at relief for the Mets this season. He has made 13 starts for Triple-A Las Vegas this year.
Smith made his Major League debut with a scoreless inning against the Dodgers on June 23.
