First inning offense sunk the Mets

The Mets could not replicate their offensive fire from the series opener and lost today’s game in the first inning, dropping the second game at Wrigley Field 8-1.

Jameson Taillon was excellent today for the Cubs, throwing 93 pitches over seven innings, striking out ten and walking none while giving up just one run, a solo home run to Francisco Alvarez.

Tylor Megill got roughed up in the first inning, giving up five runs in frustrating fashion. After walking two of the first three batters of the game, Seiya Suzuki singled in the game’s first run.
