NEW YORK -- It has hardly gone unnoticed that Brandon Nimmo has caught fire -- his two-run homer in the third inning Friday was his fifth in 11 games -- just as MLB All-Star Game voting is beginning. Nimmo, conspicuously, is not on the ballot, despite offensive rate stats that rival Mike Trout, Mookie Betts and some of the game's other greats. Because the ballot only has space for three outfielders from each team, Nimmo lost out to Yoenis Cespedes, Michael Conforto and Jay Bruce.

Statistically, Nimmo deserves it more than all of them.
