Final score: Yankees 8, Mets 7—New York beats New York

Following a pre-game ceremony to honor the 9/11 anniversary, the two New York teams battled and traded leads back and forth, with the Yankees ultimately coming out on top 8-7 to tie up the Subway Series.

Taijuan Walker, who hadn’t won a single game in the second half, started for the Mets, and it seemed like he was on his way to yet another loss after an incredibly rough second inning in which he gave up a whopping three homers and five runs. To his credit, however, he quickly rebounded and went on one of his more impressive pitching runs of the season, retiring thirteen straight batters to end his night.
