After narrowly escaping calamity last night, the Mets couldn’t win back to back games in the Bronx this weekend, falling to the Yankees 7-6 on Saturday afternoon. Despite a second inning home run from Michael Conforto off of Sonny Gray to get his team on the board, the Mets trailed most of the day.
The fourth inning is what did in Steven Matz this afternoon. Giancarlo Stanton led the inning off with a single, and then scored on a Didi Gregorius triple. Gregorius scored when the next batter, Miguel Andujar, doubled, and then Andujar scored on a Greg Bird double.
