Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Jacob deGrom pitched well, but the offense and bullpen provided little support as the Mets fell to the Rockies 5-1 in the series opener against the Rockies.
The team came into the night hoping for a strong performance from their star pitcher, and by and large he did not disappoint, as the Cy Young winner threw six innings and racked up ten strikeouts against only one walk. He did give up two runs, however, with the first one coming in the third inning off a Raimel Tapia run-scoring double and the second in the fourth off an Ian Desmond single.
