Coming in fresh off of an improbably wild extra inning victory Monday night, Pete Alonso got the Mets off to a fast start Tuesday with a first inning solo home run.
Unfortunately for the Mets, spot starter Robert Stock gave up a leadoff home run to Jonathan India to tie the game, then was forced to leave the game before the start of the second with a hamstring injury.
Pressed into emergency service, Stephen Nogosek threw a game three innings, but faltered enough to surrender back-to-back home runs to Joey Votto and Aristides Aquino in the third to give the Reds a 3-1 lead.
