Despite a tremendous bounceback effort from Jacob deGrom, the Mets fell to the Reds 1-0. deGrom was perfect through three and didn’t allow a hit until the fifth, finishing the night with seven scoreless innings and six strikeouts. Ryan O’Rourke and Seth Lugo navigated a scoreless eighth to keep the game tied, but Edwin Diaz stumbled in a non-save situation again and allowed a solo home run to Jose Iglesias in the top of the ninth that proved to be the difference.
The Met offense, meanwhile, was essentially nonexistant.
