The Mets dropped the series opener to the Phillies tonight by a score of 3-1, dropping them to 21-27, 3.5 games behind the Phillies for the seventh seed and 2.5 games behind the Giants for the 8th seed as they sink further and further out of the race.
Rick Porcello got the start for the Mets and got off to a strong start, beginning the game with three scoreless innings, the first time he’s ever done that since coming to the Mets. Things quickly unraveled for him from there, though, as he gave up two runs in the fourth inning on an Adam Haseley single and two more in the fifth on a Didi Gregorius homer.
