For the second straight game, the Mets had a lackluster showing and played some bad baseball. Jerad Eickhoff got the start for the Mets, and though he was able to give the team some length, pitching six innings, he struggled, allowing five runs in those six innings.
Kyle Schwarber once again powered the Nationals and continued his torrid hot streak, leading off the bottom of the first with a solo homer. The Nats then went back-to-back, as Trea Turner hit a solo shot of his own, putting the Mets in an early 2-0 deficit.
The Nats’ big bats weren’t done yet, with Gerardo Parra hitting the third solo shot of game for Washington in the bottom of the second.
