Final Score: Nationals 6, Mets 2 - Pestered by Lester

After dominating the day game, the Mets dropped the nightcap to the Nationals, 6-2.

The Mets went with a bullpen game in the second game of the double header, and their two highly effective multi-inning pitchers, Robert Gsellman and Sean Reid-Foley, did not have their best stuff today. Gsellman gave up a solo home run in the first, Reid-Foley a solo home run in the third, and then a walk, single, ground rule double, and three-run blast in the fourth.

The Mets were stymied by the Nationals’ veteran left handed pitcher Jon Lester. The Mets had multiple opportunities to scratch out a run, but could not deliver until the top of the seventh, when José Peraza sent a Lester pitch over the wall for a two-run home run.
