Final Score: Nationals 5, Mets 3 - Stop! Stop! He’s already dead

After a nail-biter of a loss in the first game of the doubleheader, the Mets lost a much more one-sided game to the Nationals, 5-3. Rick Porcello started for the Mets and went just three innings, giving up five runs on eight hits and one walk. All of them came in the third inning, putting the game, sadly, out of reach in the first half of the shortened game.

The Mets’ early offense came from Pete Alonso, who hit a two-run home run in the fourth. Todd Frazier added a third run in the top of the sixth, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early deficit.
