Final Score: Nationals 11, Mets 10—Season’s over

The New York Mets 2019 season, which was already on life support heading into this road trip and tonight’s game, officially flat lined after a truly catastrophic loss. The Mets took a 10-4 lead against the Washington Nationals into the ninth, but a trio of relievers were tagged for seven runs to turn what appeared to be a laugher into a 11-10 defeat.

The Mets fell behind by a run in the first, but they exploded for four in the fourth against Max Scherzer. Pete Alonso got things started with a single, and Michael Conforto kept the line moving with a single of his own.
