The Mets took the first (belated) game of the Subway Series by smacking around the Yankees 8-3 this afternoon in the Bronx. Taijuan Walker took a no-hit bid into the sixth inning before giving up an opposite field home run to Aaron Judge. That home run would be more or less inconsequential, due to the Mets offense getting on track and scoring eight runs, mostly on singles.
Brandon Nimmo rejoined the team today, and went 3 for 6 with two runs scored. Dom Smith drove in three, including the final two runs of the day on an opposite field double in the sixth inning.
