The Mets brought the power to Boston to the tune of three home runs to defeat the Red Sox 7-4.
One day after getting embarrassed by the Braves, the Amazins finally broke out against Boston’s patchwork pitching. Michael Conforto got it started in the second inning when he hit a two-run blast off opener Josh Osich. Pete Alonso faced a different pitcher in the third but it ended with the same result when he smoked a scorcher over the monster for a two-run shot of his own. Finally, Dominic Smith, who got the start at DH, added to reliever Jeffrey Springs’s misery and blasted a three-run shot to right center off of him in the fourth.
