In what was the most exciting game of the young season, the Mets topped the Nationals 6-5 in thrilling fashion. Steven Matz fought his control but ultimately tossed five scoreless innings, but the middle part of the Met bullpen struggled again, with Robert Gsellman, Justin Wilson, and Jeurys Familia all giving up runs. The offense came through, however, and Edwin Diaz nailed things down for his fourth save of the season.
The Mets had been in a home run drought to start the year, but that is no longer the case.
