The New York Mets scored five runs in the first against Jose Urena and narrowly held on to defeat the Miami Marlins 6-5 at Marlins Park. The game was anything but pretty, but in the end the club earned their second straight series win to start the season.
The Mets never trailed, as they sent ten men to the plate in the first and came away with a five-run lead. Jason Vargas couldn’t keep the Marlins off the basepaths, but he survived five innings while allowing two runs on eight hits and one walk.
