The Mets took a two-run lead in this game on two separate occasions, but saw that lead erased both times. Michael Conforto hit an absolute bomb of a home run to extend the Mets’ 1-0 lead to two runs in the fourth inning. Steven Matz yielded a run in the top of the next inning that cut the Mets’ lead in half, but escaped the inning without further damage.
Things got dicey for the Mets in the sixth when the Phillies tied the game at two runs apiece. With the game already tied, the Phillies had first and third with two outs and sent up the righty Phil Gosselin to pinch hit.
