Final Score: Mets 5, Phillies 1—David Eliterson Returns

The Mets made it three wins in a row against the Phillies with a 5-1 victory on Wednesday night to improve their record to 5-3. With the win, the Mets jumped into sole possession of first place in the National League East.

David Peterson made his second straight start against Philadelphia, and this one went significantly better than the last. After giving up six runs in four-plus innings on April 7, he tossed six innings of one-run ball while matching his career high with ten strikeouts. He allowed just two hits and didn’t issue a walk.
