Jacob deGrom looked like an ace and Lucas Duda looked like a power hitter as the Mets shut out one of the best offenses in baseball.
Jacob deGrom turned in the best performance by a Mets pitcher so far this year in dominating the Cardinals this afternoon, striking out 11 over 8 innings of work. The only baserunner he allowed came on a first-inning single by Matt Carpenter. He looked as good as that sounds, painting the black consistently and pretty much hitting any spot he wanted with his array of pitches.
