The Mets beat the Braves 5-1 in Atlanta for the fifth-straight victory, and because of the Nationals' loss against the Marlins tonight, the Mets lead the National League East by eight-and-a-half games. Their magic number to clinch the division is down to fourteen.
As for the game itself, Steven Matz started and wasn't dominant, but he still allowed just one run in five innings. Yoenis Cespedes was the star, driving in a run on a double early, hitting a two-run bomb late, and going 3-for-5 on the night.
