The Mets took the second game of the doubleheader against the Rockies today, 4-2. The Mets took three of four from the Rockies, are four games over .500 and, improbably, remain in first place
After Joey Lucchesi looked less than sharp in the top of the first, the Mets got on the board in the bottom of the inning, with Jonathan Villar scoring on a fielder’s choice off the bat of newest Met Billy McKinney. McKinney would score the second run of the game on a Jose Peraza single three innings later.
Lucchesi settled down after walking the first two batters he faced, but left the game with two on in the fourth inning, one of whom would come around to score when Drew Smith gave up a single to Connor Joe.
