The Mets squeaked out a wild and wonderful win over the Brewers this afternoon. The Jacob deGrom-Corbin Burnes matchup was mostly as advertised, as deGrom gave up two solo home runs in a seven inning no decision — netting his 1,500th strikeout in the process, and Corbin Burnes bounced back from a rough first inning where Brandon Nimmo doubled and Lindor singled him home. The Mets threatened in the fifth and sixth, but had to face the basically unhittable Josh Hader in the seventh.
José Peraza came in with one out and crushed a Hader fastball over the left center field wall to tie it a two apiece, continuing his uncanny ability to get every single big hit the Mets seem to need it.
