Do not attempt to adjust your television sets, because the New York Mets’ bullpen did in fact manage to hold a lead tonight. Staked to a 3-2 lead after scoring the go-ahead run in the fifth inning, a combination of six relievers pitched five shutout innings as they bested the Minnesota Twins.
The Mets jumped ahead in the first, with the sure-handed Twins exhibiting some Mets-like defensive woes. After Jeff McNeil and Michael Conforto led off with back-to-back singles, a passed ball that got by Twins’ catcher Jason Castro moved them into scoring position with one out.
