The Mets beat the Cubs this afternoon 8-1 at Wrigley Field. The Vargy magic continued, as Jason Vargas had yet another successful start, going five and a third innings, striking out six, walking two, and giving up four hits. Only an RBI single from Ian Happ would blemish Vargas’s start, along with his relatively short outing. But hey! Five and a third of good Vargas is far better than 8 of earlier in 2018 Vargas!
The Mets got on the board with a grand slam by Todd Frazier in the top of the first inning off Cubs’ starter Alec Mills.
