Following nine innings in which the Mets struggled to put up much of an offensive threat, a walk-off homer off the bat of Garrett Cooper gave the Mets a 3-1 loss to tie the series against the Marlins.
Joey Lucchesi started for the Mets and looked about as impressive as we’ve seen him pitch this season. The churve-throwing lefty tossed four scoreless, allowing just one baserunner—who immediately was erased via a double play—and notching a whopping eight strikeouts. Sean Reid-Foley replaced him in the fifth and managed to keep the Marlins off the board until the seventh, when two runners got on and Luis Rojas went to Aaron Loup to face Corey Dickerson with runners on second and third with one out.
