Final Score Game 1: Yankees 12, Mets 5—Offensive Defense

The New York Mets couldn’t get out their own way in game one of today’s day-night doubleheader. They made several blunders in the field, from missing bases to throwing errors on routine grounders to misplaying fly balls, and the New York Yankees seemingly made them pay every single time.

The troubles began in the second, when Zack Wheeler made a stellar bare-handed play and appeared to throw out lead runner Brett Gardner at second base for the first out of the inning. Upon review, it was ruled that Amed Rosario missed stepping on second base.
