It was a matchup of aces that didn’t go as planned for either team, but the Dodgers offense exploded against the Mets’ bullpen to earn the 9-5 victory.
Neither Jacob deGrom or Clayton Kershaw were very sharp, and deGrom in particular struggled in his five innings of work. He gave up two runs and threw a ton of pitches which led to his early exit.
Still, he left with the lead thanks to a home run by J.D. Davis but the fun stopped there. The bullpen immediately imploded following deGrom’s exit.
