In a disappointingly unsurprising development, the Mets lost 6-3 to the Arizona Diamondbacks. This loss is their third in a row and eleventh in twelve games. Jason Vargas had an okay start, going five innings while giving up three runs and striking out five. Vargas surrendered his three runs on a two-run home run by the red-hot Paul Goldschmidt and a solo home run by David Peralta.
The Mets’ offense got off to a quick start when Brandon Nimmo hit a solo home run as the third batter of the game.
