Today’s game went just about as expected for the Mets, as the Cardinals evened up the series in dominating fashion today, beating the Mets 10-2. Chris Flexen made his season debut for the Mets in place of Jacob deGrom and took the loss, giving up six runs—five of them earned—in 4 1⁄3 innings of work. The Cardinals piled on against the Mets bullpen. Luis Avilan, Jacob Rhame, and Paul Sewald combined to give up four additional runs.
Meanwhile, the Mets were held scoreless until the seventh by Miles Mikolas, who was the first Cardinal starter to record an out in the seventh this season.
