The Mets lost to the Brewers this afternoon, 3-2 at Miller Park in Milwaukee. After playing 18 innings last night, the Mets had hoped for an uncharacteristically long start from Jason Vargas to help give the bullpen a rest. That was not to be.
Vargas departed after four innings, having thrown just 50 pitches, due to ‘mild hamstring tightness.’ Tim Peterson, Daniel Zamora, and Tyler Bashlor combined for four scoreless innings of relief.
The big blow against the Mets was a home run from a returning Christian Yelich, which put the Brewers up 3-0.
