In a shocking development, Carlos Carrasco got through the first inning unscathed—in impressive fashion at that, striking out the side around a Freddie Freeman single. Unfortunately, this time it would be the middle innings that would get to Carrasco, as Joc Peterson opened the scoring in the bottom third with a two out solo home run.
The Braves would add another run in the third, then tack on runs in the fourth and fifth to open a 5-0 lead on the Mets before New York would finally get on the board in the top of the sixth on a Pete Alonso RBI double.
