Final Score: Braves 6, Mets 3 - More Smyly than smiles in Queens

The Mets lost the finale of their five-game series against the Braves, 6-3, this afternoon in Queens. Taijuan Walker started for the Mets and, for the third straight start, did not have his best stuff. Walker gave up five runs over five innings, while striking out seven. Home runs to Austin Riley and Abraham Almonte put the game out of reach.

The Mets struck first in the third inning, when Dom Smith drove in Brandon Nimmo before being tagged out stretching a single. Pete Alonso hit a 453 foot moon-shot in the fifth to get the Mets within 2m but a Dansby Swanson solo shot off of Jeurys Familia gave the Braves an insurance run for a lead they’d never relinquish.
