The Mets lost the second game of their series in Atlanta by a 20-2 score. After Pete Alonso hit a two-run home run in the top of the first, all of the Mets’ pitchers were terrible.
David Peterson gave up six runs, five of them earned, in three innings and left the game with an injury. Sean Reid-Foley gave up five runs, four of them earned, in just one-third of an inning in relief of Peterson. And Thomas Szapucki gave up six runs, all of them earned, in three-and-two-thirds innings of work in his major league debut.
