The Mets were blown out by the Braves in a game started by literally Jerad Eickhoff, the twice-DFAed pitcher whom the Mets apparently have on speed dial for just such occasions when they can’t find someone better. Instead of filling their rotational void for Tuesday’s contest with someone more closely resembling a major league arm—I would remind you that they were well aware of the need for a pitcher for this game/series from last week—the Mets retreated to someone they’ve released twice, and it went about how anybody would have expected.
The Braves put two runs on the board in the first, and you could just tell that it was just the beginning rather than a minor blip.
