Mets closer Jeurys Familia gave credit to manager Mickey Callaway after he earned a five-out save to close out the Mets' 3-2 win over the Nationals on Saturday.
"Everybody is happy the way he uses the bullpen," Familia said. "You can see the difference. He knows what he's doing over there. And it's working."
Callaway utilized five relievers in a tight game on Saturday afternoon in Washington after Steven Matz allowed one unearned run in five innings of work.
Bryce Harper hit a solo home run off Hansel Robles in the sixth inning to put the Nationals in front, 2-1, but Callaway then went on to combine the efforts of AJ Ramos, Jacob Rhame, Jerry Blevins, and Familia, who strung together three scoreless innings of relief while the Mets' offense rallied and took the lead.
