Familia placed on 10-day DL due to clot in shoulder

Mets RHP Jeurys Familia has been placed on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to May 11 due to an arterial clot in his right shoulder, the team announced Friday.

Familia, who may need surgery, was expected to be examined by Dr. Robert Thompson in St. Louis on Friday for further tests.

Thompson is the doctor who performed surgery on Matt Harvey last year for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.

Familia, 27, allowed four runs (three earned) yesterday against the Giants while blowing his first save of 2017. He has a 3.86 ERA and 1.
