Ex-Mets reliever Bobby Parnell signs minor-league deal with Tigers

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Former New York Mets reliever Bobby Parnell has signed a minor-league deal with the Detroit Tigers.

Parnell, 31, struggled in his first season back from Tommy John surgery. He had a 6.38 ERA in 30 appearances with the Mets in 2015.

At one point during the summer, team officials gave Parnell the choice of being released, going to the minors or being placed on the disabled list. Parnell chose the DL.
