Anthony Recker, the former Met backup catcher squeezed out of a role by the arrival of Kevin Plawecki, has a new home. Recker has signed a minor-league deal with Cleveland that includes an invitation to big-league spring training, the Indians said on Twitter.
The 32-year-old Recker batted .125 with two homers in 32 games this season. Overall, he hit 15 homers in 140 games for the Mets from 2013-15.
Recker originally was taken by Oakland in the 18th round of the 2005 amateur draft and he’s seen time in the majors with the Mets, A’s and Cubs.
